Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe to be launched on August 9

The Basalt is expected to be positioned as a rival to the Tata Curvv.

Citroen has announced that the prices for the Basalt SUV Coupe will be revealed on August 9. It was initially supposed to launch today, but the carmaker decided to postpone it as it was clashing with the launch of the Tata Curvv.

The Basalt is expected to be positioned as a rival to the Curvv, although Tata is yet to announce the prices for the ICE version. The SUV Coupe will be offered with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 81 BHP and 115 Nm and a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol that puts out 108 BHP and 190 Nm. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be offered as standard, with the latter getting a 6-speed automatic option.

The Citroen Basalt shares its underpinnings with the C3 Aircross. It features a split headlamp design with a set of projectors and V-shaped LED DRLs. It has the signature Citroen logo in the centre and a chunky front bumper with a large air dam flanked by a set of fog lamps. The Basalt has a coupe-like roofline, large wraparound taillights, a dual-tone rear bumper with a silver skid plate, a black roof and a shark-fin antenna.

The Basalt gets a dual-tone interior with a 3-spoke steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster. The car is equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a wireless charger, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and cruise control. The rear seat passengers get dedicated AC vents and contoured headrests.
