Electric VW GTI will be more exciting than ICE version, says CEO

Volkswagen is yet to announce an official unveil date for its electric GTI.

Volkswagen is on track to introduce the electrified replacement to the brand's iconic GTI models soon.

Ahead of its arrival though, Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schafer has stated that the upcoming electric versions of the GTI will offer a more exciting driving experience than its ICE predecessors. Speaking to a media outlet, Schafer mentioned how the electric GTI will have a greater degree of chassis refinement and suspension tuning than the ICE version.

The carmaker showcased the concept version of the upcoming EV at the 2023 IAA Mobility Show in Munich, Germany. The Volkswagen ID.GTI Concept came with a choice of 38 kWh and 56 kWh battery packs. The electric hot hatch is expected to offer around 220 BHP, which is in line with its current ICE-powered model.

Volkswagen is yet to announce an official unveil date for its electric GTI.
