MG ZS EV successor leaked ahead of 2025 unveil

MG will not be calling the new model 'ZS EV'. Instead, it will receive a new moniker

MG is working on the next-generation iteration of its petrol-powered MG ZS (Astor in India). While earlier reports mentioned that it won't get an electric version, a successor to the ZS EV is now said to be in the works.

The new model will come in the form of an all-new electric compact SUV and will be based on the MG4 hatchback offered globally. The all-new MG ZS EV successor is expected to make its global unveil sometime in 2025. Ahead of its arrival though, images of the upcoming model were published by China's Ministry of Industry & Information Technology. The published report also reveals other details of the upcoming SUV as well.

The upcoming MG ZS EV successor features a more modern design language inspired by the brand's Cyberster and MG4. It features slimmer headlights, black cladding all around the front and sides of the SUV, black plastic on the wheel arches and silver roof rails. The rear also gets sleek tail lights connected by an LED light bar and a high-mounted stoplight. MG will also offer the new SUV with three different styles of ORVMs and alloy wheel designs.

As per the published report, the upcoming SUV is 162 mm longer and has a 149 mm larger wheelbase than the current ZS EV. Also, MG will not be calling the new model 'ZS EV'. Instead, it will receive a new moniker, which will be announced at a later stage.

The new MG ZS EV successor will be based on the brand's Modular Scalable Platform. The long-range version is expected to offer around 300 miles (482 km) of range. There is also the potential for an all-wheel-drive variant, which MG is yet to confirm.
