India-spec Citroen Basalt revealed ahead of August 2 debut

The Citroen Basalt is expected to compete with the Tata Curvv in the Indian market.

Citroen has released a few images of the upcoming Basalt SUV Coupe for India. It will make its global debut on August 2.

The Citroen Basalt shares its underpinnings with the C3 Aircross. Although there are a few similarities, it has a distinct coupe design. The SUV features split headlamps with LED DRLs, wraparound taillights and square-ish wheel arches. The stylish coupe-like roofline is a nod to models like the 1974 CX and more recently, the C4.

The interior of the Basalt is also expected to be similar to the C3 Aircross. It is likely to get features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, wireless charging and more.

The Basalt will be offered with the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that powers the C3 Aircross. This engine makes 109 BHP and 205 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Citroen Basalt is expected to compete with the Tata Curvv in the Indian market.
