Tata Motors plans to open a new outlet every day after July

Tata Motors is looking to expand its dealership network in India. The company plans to open 200 new showrooms this fiscal year and aims to have 1,500 outlets in the next five years.

At present, Tata Motors has presence in 359 cities, which it finds inadequate. With the expansion, the company plans to cover all 651 districts of the country. It is tapping smaller towns in an attempt to optimise sales from old models such as the Indica and Indigo. The company believes that in smaller towns, the two old cars have good equity in the personal usage segment.

Tata Motors is targeting a double-digit growth in sales and aims to sell 20,000 units every month.

Apart from expanding its dealership network in the country, Tata Motors is planning to introduce mobile workshops, which will offer vehicle service to its customers at their doorsteps. The company is working on a pilot project at the moment in three cities. It will be rolled out all over the country based on the feedback.
