According to a media report, Tata Motors is likely to launch the Nexon CNG in the coming weeks. It will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG.
The Nexon CNG was showcased in concept form at the Bharat Mobility Show in January. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, making it India’s first CNG car with a turbocharged engine. Reports suggest that it will be offered with an automatic manual transmission (AMT) in addition to the standard 5-speed manual.
The Nexon CNG will use Tata’s twin-cylinder technology, which features two smaller cylinders instead of a single large unit. The CNG cylinders are mounted under the boot floor, which helps liberate usable luggage space in the boot.
With the introduction of the Nexon CNG, customers will have four powertrain options to choose from, Petrol, Diesel and EV being the other three.
