Hyundai Elite i20 Cross spied with projector headlamps, DRLs

Recently, Hyundai started test runs of a crossover based on the recently launched Elite i20 hatchback. A test mule of the same has been spotted again and this time, the car has been seen with projector headlamps and even LED daytime running lights. The Elite i20 does not get either of these features in India.

The Elite i20 Cross is Hyundai's answer to the Volkswagen Cross Polo, Toyota Etios Cross and Fiat Avventura. While it is essentially nothing but a regular Elite i20 underneath, it will look more rugged thanks to features such as roof rails, skid plates and different alloy wheels. Like its rivals, we expect it to sport a lot of plastic cladding on the sides as well.

Mechanically, the Elite i20 Cross is likely to be identical to the standard car:

• Petrol: 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, 82 bhp @ 6000 rpm, 115 Nm @ 4000 rpm, 5-speed manual
• Diesel: 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder, 89 bhp @ 4000 rpm, 220 @ 1500-2750 rpm, 6-speed manual
