BMW 5 Series LWB launched at Rs 72.90 lakh

The BMW 530Li rivals the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Long Wheelbase and the Audi A6.

BMW has launched the latest generation of the 5 Series in India. The sedan is only available in its long-wheelbase form and a single variant - '530Li M Sport'. It is priced at Rs 72.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

The 8th-gen BMW 5 Series features a redesigned kidney grille flanked by sleek twin-pod LED headlamps. The car gets new door handles, metallic trim around the window frame and the number ‘5’ embossed on the C-pillar. The rear features slim wraparound LED taillights and a sculpted rear bumper with integrated reflectors. It rides on 18-inch wheels, but customers can opt for the larger 19-inch rims.

Inside, you get fewer physical buttons and big screens. There’s a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster behind the new 3-spoke steering wheel, and the centre console houses a 14.9-inch curved display running the latest generation BMW operating system 8.5.

The 5 Series is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. BMW claims the 530Li can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds.

In India, the BMW 530Li rivals the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Long Wheelbase and the Audi A6. Deliveries will begin in September.
