Citroen CEO promises simplicity among its model range

Koskas confirmed that the car brand isn't in a tech race and will not offer its cars with massive screens like its competitors.

Speaking in a recent interview, Citroen boss, Thierry Koskas stated that the company will be renewing its whole lineup, but the range won't be big.

In addition to this, Koskas also mentioned that each model lineup will also be further simplified. Mentioning the Citroen e-C3 as an example, Koskas stated, "There are just two versions and a choice of colour. We've killed the configurator."

The company boss added that Citroen's model range will be renewed entirely, starting with the new C3 and e-C3. This will be followed by the C3 Aircross and e-C3 Aircross - seven-seater SUVs based on the C3. The French carmaker will introduce a 'deep facelift' of its C4 next year which will feature a new face, along with PHEV, electric & mild-hybrid powertrain options. Then in late 2025, Citroen plans to introduce an all-new C5 Aircross, which will also receive similar powertrain options. Koskas went on to specify, "We really want full-EV on the C5 Aircross. We have missed it."

Citroen has also planned a C5X which will be available in small numbers. Koskas justifies it as "Not because it's unsuccessful but because that's a tiny segment – non-premium big cars including the Superb and Passat."

While this will be the extent of the main product lineup going forward, the company CEO did hint at a few "breakthrough models" and a new car with a "different shape".

Additionally, Koskas also confirmed that the car brand isn't in a tech race and, hence, will not offer its cars with massive screens like its competitors. He stated, "We embed features customers need, but our cars aren't a technological Christmas tree. We're not in a tech race, so we won't have 50-inch screens. We are about simplicity, and that includes simple to use."

Thierry also mentioned that the electric vehicles will use "high cost-saving" batteries with LFP chemistry. He reasoned that they have fewer components than most small cars, while also allowing them to simplify the lineup, options offered and the nomenclature; as well as the purchasing & logistics.
