Volkswagen is all set to launch the Golf GTI in India. The sporty hatchback will be imported via the CBU route and will be available in limited numbers.
Bookings for the Golf GTI opened on May 5, and as per reports, the first batch of 150 units has already been sold out. The first allotments were made based on an online quiz. Participants who scored at least 4 out of 5 qualified to pre-book the car.
The Mk 8.5 Golf GTI features a slim front fascia with slim LED headlamps, C-shaped LED taillights, a roof spoiler, dual exhausts, and 18-inch alloy wheels. It has an all-black interior with a 12.9-inch touchscreen in the centre, a 3-spoke steering wheel, and a digital instrument cluster.
The Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 261 BHP and 370 Nm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. VW claims a 0-100 km/h time of 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.
