Tata Curvv SUV Coupe could get a CNG option in the future

The Curvv CNG would use the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that will be offered in the Nexon iCNG.

This week, Tata Motors launched the Curvv SUV Coupe in the Indian market. It is currently available with petrol, diesel and electric powertrains, but could get a CNG option in the future.

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors, said, “While designing the car we have ensured that the design is protected for CNG, and while it’s premature to confirm a launch I can say it’s under active consideration.”

The Curvv CNG would use the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. It is expected to debut on the Nexon iCNG, due in FY2025, and will be the first turbocharged engine tuned to run on CNG. In petrol mode, this engine produces 118 BHP and 170 Nm.

Other midsize offerings like the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder are available with CNG powertrains. So, it would certainly make sense for Tata to offer this option to its customers.
