Skoda Kodiaq spotted in production-ready form

The Skoda Kodiaq SUV has been spotted testing with minimal camouflage in its home country, the Czech Republic. Skoda will be unveiling its flagship SUV on September 1 in Berlin, before showcasing it at the Paris Motor Show in October.

The images do give a fair idea about the Kodiaq's proportions in the real world. The beefed up square wheel arches and the long bonnet area are similar to the VisionS concept. However, various design characteristics of the concept vehicle have been toned down in the production-spec SUV. The tail-light on the spotted vehicle appears to be a makeshift arrangement, as the Kodiaq will get a different setup, which was seen in recent teaser images. Other design elements revealed in the new spy shots include a shark-fin antenna mounted at the rear portion of the roof and a roof integrated spoiler.

Powering options on the Skoda Kodiaq will include three petrol and two diesel engines. Petrol units will have a displacement of 1.4-litre and 2.0-litre, with power ranging from 123 BHP to 177 BHP. Meanwhile, the two 2.0-litre diesel engines will develop 148 BHP and 187 BHP. A 6-speed manual and a DSG unit will take care of the transmission duties. It will be available with both FWD and 4WD options.

Skoda has confirmed that the Kodiaq will be launched in India next year. It will be imported as CKD units.
