New Storme to get the Varicor 400 engine?

Thanks to BHPian //M for sharing the images and information with fellow enthusiasts.

The Tata Safari Storme facelift had recently been captured on camera, completely undisguised. The Land Rover-like front grill appears to be the most prominent change to the SUV. The sides and rear appear virtually unchanged.

This time around the Storme has been captured on camera sporting the VARICOR 400 badge on the front fender. This indicates that it will be powered by the same 2.2 liter diesel unit that was showcased on the Hexa Concept at the Geneva Motor Show. On the Hexa, this motor churned out 154 BHP and 400 Nm of torque. The outgoing Storme puts out 138 BHP and 320 Nm of torque, hence a bump in performance of this 2 ton SUV will be a welcome move. It might get a new 6-speed manual transmission too. Rumors also suggest that an automatic version of the Storme is being tested.

Tata might enhance the equipment list on the new Storme too, making it more feature-rich than before.

The updated Storme has been on test since a while now. There is still no information on when Tata plans to launch this updated version.
