Nissan X-Trail, Juke & Qashqai showcased in India

Nissan plans to introduce the X-Trail sometime next year. It will be imported via the CBU route and will rival the Skoda Kodiaq and VW Tiguan.

Nissan has showcased three SUVs from its global portfolio in India, including the X-Trail, which was caught testing earlier this month. The carmaker has also started a feasibility study of the Qashqai, while the third model under evaluation is the Juke.

The X-Trail moniker is not new to the Indian market. The SUV is now in its fourth generation and comes with petrol and hybrid engine options. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine makes 161 BHP and 300 Nm, while the ‘e-Power’ version is assisted by an electric motor and puts out 201 BHP and 330 Nm.

The X-Trail e-Power hybrid also comes with all-wheel drive. It uses the same hybrid powertrain, albeit in a higher state of tune. It packs 210 BHP and 500 Nm.

The Nissan X-Trail is available in 5-seat and 7-seat configurations. The SUV will be launched in India as a completely built unit (CBU) in 2023. It will compete with the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tiguan.

The Nissan Qashqai comes with petrol and mild-hybrid powertrains paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT. It could rival the Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass.

The Juke is a funky SUV that is now in its second-generation. It is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol hybrid, making it a good alternate to mid-sized SUVs like the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
