Maruti Suzuki crosses the 10-lakh automatic car sales milestone

65% of automatic vehicles sold by the Maruti Suzuki are equipped with AGS.

Maruti Suzuki has sold over 10 lakh vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, setting a record for an Indian brand.

Maruti Suzuki currently offers 16 models with automatic transmissions, which include technologies like Auto Gear Shift (AGS), 6-speed automatic with steering-mounted paddle shifters and Electronic-Continuous Variable Transmission (e-CVT).

Maruti Suzuki introduced AGS tech in 2014. According to the company, 65% of automatic vehicles sold by the brand are equipped with AGS. The share of automatic transmission models makes up 27% of Maruti’s automatic sales, while the Hybrid e-CVT transmission accounts for about 8%.

Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales of Maruti Suzuki India said, "We are already close to touching the one lakh automatic vehicle sales mark for FY23-24, as we stand in the middle of the financial year. Arena customers, meanwhile, prefer mid-variants when making a purchase decision. As things stand today, NEXA accounts for about 58% of automatic car sales at MSIL, while Arena contributes about 42%."
