2017 Porsche Panamera launched in India at Rs. 1.93 crore

The 2017 Porsche Panamera has been launched in India. The four-door coupe is available in two variants - Turbo and Turbo Executive, priced at Rs. 1.93 crore and Rs. 2.06 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai), respectively. The Turbo Executive trim is basically a stretched version of the regular model, with a wheelbase longer by 150 mm.

The overall design language of the new Panamera is inspired by the new 911, while some minor cues have also been borrowed from the 718 Boxster & Cayman twins. The front and rear ends get new set of LED lights, which provide the new family look to the car's face. The most prominent design change has been made on the side, as the new model gets a relatively slimmer profile. The rear gets wraparound taillights and also features a new extendable spoiler.

On the inside, the second-gen Panamera features a fully digital control panel that replaces conventional physical knobs and buttons. The dashboard is characterized by a 12.3-inch touchscreen system that has been mounted on the centre console. It comes with the updated Porsche Communication Management (PCM 4.1).

Both variants of the new Panamera are powered by a 4.0-litre, V8 petrol engine which churns out 543 BHP and 770 Nm of torque and is mated to an 8-speed PDK gearbox. This marks an increment of around 30 BHP and 70 Nm of torque, as compared to the earlier-gen model. The company claims that the new Panamera Turbo is capable of completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.8 seconds, which can further be cut down by 0.2 seconds by opting for a sport chrono package. The Panamera Turbo Executive is just 0.1 second slower to the 100 km/h mark. Both variants have the top speed of 306 km/h.

The new Panamera gets Porsche's all-wheel drive system. There are four driving modes on offer - Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. The car is also loaded with technological features such as adaptive air suspension with three-chamber technology, rear axle steering, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control System with Torque Vectoring Plus and 4D chassis control system.
