Volvo S60 T6 petrol India launch in July

The premium car segment attributes a great share of its sales to diesel models. Given that many of the buyers are chauffeur driven, fuel economy takes precedence over outright performance. For the few buyers who want a premium performance petrol car, Volvo is launching the S60 sedan with the T6 petrol engine in July this year.

According to the source, the car will be launched as a front wheel drive model, with power coming from a 2.0L, 4-cylinder, supercharged & turbocharged, direct injection petrol engine, that makes around 298 BHP @ 5,700 rpm and 400 Nm of torque @ 2100 - 4500 rpm. Transmission duties are carried out by an eight-speed geartronic automatic gearbox. These are the specifications of the T6 Drive-E FWD and not the T6 AWD R-Design.

The arrival of the T6 petrol will also add the option of a petrol mill to the S60, which in India, is currently offered only with diesel engines. The Kinetic / Momentum variant comes with a D4 (four-cylinder), 2.0L turbo-diesel engine that makes 178 BHP @ 4,250 rpm and 400 Nm of torque @ 1,750-2,500 rpm. The Inscription variant on the other hand is powered by a D5 (five-cylinder), 2.4L, turbo-diesel engine that makes 212 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 440 Nm of torque @ 1,500-3,000 rpm.
