Toyota to recall 167 units of Prius in India

Japanese auto major, Toyota will recall 167 units of the Prius hybrid car in India. This is a part of a global recall of 1.9 million cars to address a software glitch in the hybrid system that makes it enter a fail safe mode.

The recall process will begin on 14th February 2014. The company will contact customers and carry out the necessary repairs free of cost. The time taken to carry out the repairs is expected to be between 60 and 90 minutes per car.

This is not the first time Toyota has recalled its cars in India. In 2011, the manufacturer had recalled 41,000 units of the Etios and Liva for the replacement of a faulty inlet pipe to the fuel tank. Last year, Toyota recalled the Corolla Altis sedan two times for defective drive shafts and airbags.
