Skoda Kodiaq RS sets Nurburgring lap record

The upcoming Skoda Kodiaq RS has set a new Nurburgring lap record for 7-seater SUVs. It went around the 20.832 km Nordschleife in 9 minutes and 29.84 seconds. It was driven by German race car driver Sabine Schmitz. The Skoda Kodiaq RS will make its debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show.

The SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre, twin-turbocharged, diesel engine that produces 236 BHP. This is expected to be the same engine that powers the Tiguan, where it produces 500 Nm of torque and is paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The all-wheel-drive SUV comes with Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) with multiple drive modes and progressive steering. It also has a feature called Dynamic Sound Boost, which amplifies the exhaust note.

In India, the Kodiaq is offered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine which produces 148 BHP @ 3,500-4,000 rpm and 340 Nm of torque @ 1,750-3,000 rpm. It comes with a 7-speed DSG and all-wheel drive as standard. Skoda currently has no plans to launch the Kodiaq RS in India.
