BMW won't offer next-gen X3 with an M version

The current X3 M comes powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged in-line 6-cylinder engine.

BMW is all set to introduce the next-generation iteration of its popular X3 SUV.

According to reports, BMW will not offer the new X3 with a range-topping M performance variant - as seen on the SUV's previous generations. The sportiest variant of the next-gen SUV will come in the form of the X3 M50.

The reports further claim that going forward, BMW will offer the high-performance version of the SUV only on its electric counterpart, the iX3M. The new electric SUV will be based on BMW's latest Neue Klasse EV platform, which will allow powertrains from anywhere between 600 BHP to 1,341 BHP.

The current-generation X3 M is one of the most fun SUVs in its segment. The X3 M comes powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged in-line 6-cylinder engine producing 473 BHP. The SUV is capable of sprinting to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds.

Having said that, BMW has yet to officially make any kind of announcement regarding the future of its high-performance X3 M SUV.
