Japan: Suzuki Jimny pop-top camper concept unveiled

White House Camper is yet to confirm its availability in its home market.

White House Camper, a popular Japanese camper conversion company, is contemplating adding a pop-top camper to the 5-door Suzuki Jimny.

The company has already unveiled the project's blueprints, with the actual prototype set to make its debut at the Tokyo Camper Show 2024. As per the renderings, the integration of the pop-up roof mechanism will add around 150 mm to the Jimny's height.

The original roof will also be removed, allowing occupants to enter and exit the roof-mounted tent from inside the vehicle - avoiding the need to have an external ladder. When fully extended, the Jimny's height will reach 2,815 mm. The roof-mounted tent can accommodate two adults. The mechanism will be electrically operated, making it easier for anyone to operate.

Japan doesn't get the 5-door iteration of the Jimny. Hence, White House Camper is yet to confirm its availability in its home market. Reports though suggest, the company could make it available in countries outside Japan, especially where the 5-door Jimny is sold.
