The 2018 Audi A8 was spotted on Marine Drive in Mumbai recently. The fourth generation A8 made its public debut at the Audi Summit in Barcelona on July 11, 2017. It is rumoured to be launched in India in its long-wheelbase version (3,128 mm) in the first half of 2018.

The new A8 is based on Audi's MLB Evo platform and its design is inspired by the Prologue Concept. The front end of the of the car is dominated by a wide, hexagonal grille flanked on either side by the angular Matrix LED headlights. Its clean lines are evident especially when you view the new A8 in profile. One of the spy images reveals the LED brake light strip that runs across the width at the rear while the main tail lamp cluster houses OLEDs.

Inside, the new A8 gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment screen and a secondary touchscreen below it. The new model comes with Level 3 self-driving functions which includes traffic jam pilot assist where the car can take over the duties of the acceleration, braking and steering at speeds up to 60 km/h. It also comes with a remote parking feature and a 360-degree camera.

The new A8 comes with a revised set of engines. These include a 3.0-litre TDI with 282 BHP, 3.0-litre TFSI with 335 BHP and 4.0-litre V8 petrol and diesel engines producing 429 BHP and 453 BHP respectively. Audi also plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid version. However, it is not yet known which of these will make it to the Indian version.
