Rumour: Triber, HBC SUV to get turbo 1.0L engine

The Renault Triber is currently offered with a 1.0L naturally aspirated (NA) engine. According to a media report, the Triber and the upcoming HBC SUV could get a more powerful turbocharged 1.0L engine sometime in 2020.

The report suggests that the new 1.0L unit is developed by Renault-Nissan and has the codename 'HR10'. The 3-cylinder engine is a smaller version of the larger 4-cylinder HR13 turbo-petrol unit. It is reported that this engine will power Renault-Nissan cars in India from 2020.

While no power figures are given, the turbocharged engine is expected to develop 94 BHP. It is expected to get dual variable valve timing and an exhaust manifold partially integrated into the cylinder head. The new engine is likely to be sold alongside the 1.0L NA engine. It is not yet known if the engine will get an AMT option in the Triber.
