Africa-spec Renault Triber awarded 2 stars by Global NCAP

The test car was a Renault Triber manufactured in India for the African market.

The Africa-spec Renault Triber has been awarded a 2-star rating by Global NCAP. It received a score of 22.29 points for adult occupant safety and 19.99 points for child occupant protection.

As per the crash test report, the car offered good head and neck protection in the frontal impact test. The driver’s chest showed weak protection and the passenger’s chest showed adequate protection. The driver’s knees showed marginal protection, while the passenger’s knees showed good protection. The protection for the tibias was adequate.

The head, abdomen and pelvis showed good protection, chest showed weak protection in the side impact test. The side pole impact test was not performed on the car.

The child seat for the 3-year-old was not able to prevent forward head exposure during the frontal impact test and neck and chest protection was weak to poor. The child seat for the 18-month-old was able to prevent head exposure during the test. The Triber offered full side impact protection.

The test car was manufactured in India for the African market. It does not offer 3-point seat belts in all seating positions as standard. It has dual front airbags, a seat belt reminder, pretensioners and load limiters.
