Bajaj confirms new Chetak e-scooter platform is in the works

Bajaj also confirmed that another CNG-powered model would be launched soon.

Bajaj Auto is working on a new electric scooter platform for its next-generation Chetak e-scooter. The company also plans to expand its Chetak range in the future.

In a recent interview, Rajiv Bajaj, CEO and MD of Bajaj Auto, said, “There will be more Chetaks, and a new Chetak platform, early next financial year”. He also confirmed that the electric scooter will get new affordable and premium variants before the end of this fiscal.

When asked about electric motorcycles, Bajaj responded by saying that e-scooters have far more potential. "As a company, we strongly believe that while scooters and motorcycles will both be popular, scooters in the electric format hold far greater potential than motorcycles,” Bajaj said. “That's why there is nothing ultra about the sale of Ultraviolet, which is 5-10 motorcycles a month I believe, and there is no revolution that Revolt has caused. As for Ola, we will see what happens when they are in the market place. We are staying very focused on EV scooters now, that's the short answer," he added.

Bajaj recently launched the Freedom 125 CNG in the Indian market. The head honcho of the company confirmed that another CNG-powered model would be launched soon. It is expected to be a more affordable variant of the Freedom 125.
