Rumour: Toyota to unveil next-gen Etios at Auto Expo 2016

Disappointed by the response received by the Etios sedan, Japanese auto giant, Toyota is rumoured to be working on the next-generation model of the car. The manufacturer is likely to unveil the car at Auto Expo 2016.

According to a report by Autocar India, the new Etios will get styling inspired by the new Corolla Altis. LED daytime-running lights could be added to the car's equipment too. The change in styling has been planned as a result of the poor response received by the current-generation Etios due to its boxy and rather unappealing styling.

Toyota wants to enhance the strengths of Etios like fuel efficiency, space, and durability. At the same time the manufacturer is conducting studies to obtain feedback and know more about customer preferences. Toyota hopes to use the results of these studies to build the new Etios.

The current range of engines (1.2 and 1.5-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel) is expected to be used in the new Etios.

Toyota is also considering building other body styles on the Etios platform.
