Rumour: Lewis Hamilton looking to buy Gresini Racing MotoGP team

The team is based out of Faenza, Italy, and is currently led by Nadia Padovani.

According to a report, seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton is rumoured to be interested in purchasing Ducati's satellite MotoGP team, Gresini Racing.

It is claimed that members of Hamilton's "inner circle" were in attendance at the Dutch MotoGP weekend with the sole purpose of looking at the team and its viability. The report mentions that the rumours have been "confirmed by multiple people with knowledge of the team's workings."

Lewis Hamilton already has links via several brands that sponsor, both him and the teams in the MotoGP paddock. The rumour also comes at a time when F1 commercial rights holder, Liberty Media, is in the process of buying the MotoGP from Dorna.

Gresini Racing was founded in 1991 by Fausto Gresini. The team is based out of Faenza, Italy, and is currently led by Nadia Padovani.
