Rumour: Honda BR-V to get 6-speed manual, CVT gearbox

The prototype of the upcoming Honda BR-V compact SUV will be unveiled at the Gaikindo Indonesian International Auto Show 2015, which is scheduled for 20 - 30 August 2015, in Tangerang, Indonesia.

The BR-V shares its platform with the Brio, Amaze and Mobilio and is likely to use the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines that are found in other Honda cars in India. Media reports suggest that the car get a 6-speed manual instead of the 5-speed unit found in its siblings. The BR-V petrol will also be available with a CVT gearbox, unlike the Brio, which comes with a 5-speed automatic transmission.

The BR-V has been developed by Honda in Thailand for the Asian market. Sketches released earlier tjis year indicate that it will have a muscular look with high ground clearance, front and rear skid plates, projector headlights, a chrome grille, a large air dam, round fog lamps, black cladding on its body and wheel arches, alloy wheels and roof rails.

Honda could display the BR-V in India at the 13th edition of the Auto Expo, which is scheduled to be held in February 2016.
