Toyota to introduce new rugged SUV for global markets soon

The SUV will be positioned below the Fortuner and could have the same wheelbase as the Innova Crysta.

According to media reports, Toyota is said to be working on a new rugged SUV. It is expected to be called 'FJ Cruiser' and will reportedly enter production in November 2024. The new Toyota FJ Cruiser rugged SUV will go on sale in Thailand first before being introduced in other global markets.

The reports further mention that the new Toyota SUV will get boxy design cues paired with chunky wheel arches - enhancing its rugged appeal. In terms of dimensions, the SUV will be 4,500 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width and 1,850 mm in height - positioning it below the brand's popular Fortuner SUV. Having said that, the upcoming SUV is said to have the same 2,750 mm wheelbase as both the Fortuner and the Innova Crysta.

While details of the upcoming SUV are scarce, reports suggest that Toyota will offer the new model with a choice of petrol and diesel engines.

With production expected to commence in November this year, Toyota could possibly unveil the new SUV in the coming months.
