Honda is developing a new global platform for its future small and medium-sized models. The new PF2 architecture will underpin SUVs and sedans like the next-gen City. It will support ICE, hybrid and EV powertrains.
The first model based on the PF2 platform is likely to be a 7-seater SUV. It will be positioned above the Elevate. The new model is already under development and is expected to be launched in 2027.
The next-gen City, which is due in 2028, will also be based on the PF2 platform. The 6th iteration of the popular sedan is expected to feature a new design language and could be offered with petrol and hybrid powertrain options.
According to media reports, Honda plans to roll out a new compact SUV in early 2029. It is said to be a sub-4 meter SUV that will also be based on the PF2 architecture. During the same year, Honda is likely to debut its second pure-electric model based on the same platform.
Reports suggest that India is likely to be the global production base for PF2-based models. With the growing popularity of hybrids, the carmaker is also said to be looking at localizing its hybrid powertrain.
