Maruti Suzuki may introduce Idling-Stop, Eco Cool systems

Earlier this year, we had reported that Maruti Suzuki was planning to introduce an Idling-Stop system on its cars (click here to read report). This is a stop start system, in which the engine turns off automatically when the car stops and restarts when the clutch is pressed. This is claimed to result in better fuel-efficiency figures.

Along with the engine, the AC shuts down too. To prevent the cabin from heating up, Maruti's idle-stop system come with an Eco Cool feature that maintains the flow of cool air by using a cooling storage device in the air conditioner unit.

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR is likely to be first model to get Idling-Stop and Eco Cool technology. With time, other cars including the Ciaz and Ertiga are expected to be given this system as well.
