Love my new Interceptor 650 but hate how Royal Enfield is operating

After listening to what the manager said, I did not even waste my time taking the motorcycle to the service centre.

BHPian parrys recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

So, not even 3.5 months since the delivery and the battery is dead tonight. No signs of life at all.

Tried push-starting it in 1st & 2nd gear, no luck. Tried rolling it down a long steep slope, no luck.

Royal indeed.

Trip computer is over 2,500 kms I guess. Can't check, because...

Had gone for a 400+ km bike ride not more than 10 days ago.

Update for the day!

Tried to jump start - No luck. Kept the bike on charge with jumping cables - No luck. Tried to push start - No luck

Push start while kick-towing, fired up.

Took it to my close friend's garage - RATS BIKERS CAFE in Thane.

Got the battery out and sent it to a dealer to charge and check the status. The battery does not hold charge at all, declared useless.

Battery is manufactured on 18/02/2024!

Called the Royal Enfield showroom & service centre Thane, same folks from whom I picked the bike up.

Information shared in sequence:

  • Please call RSA
  • RSA executive will arrive, when available
  • RSA executive will check the bike within premises, then suggest the way ahead
  • RSA tow-truck will arrive, when available
  • Bike heads to the service centre
  • Bike will be inspected
  • Battery will be inspected
  • Then based on their inspection, further chain of actions

Meanwhile, I am expected to wait. Patiently.

  • Bike purchase date - 29/03/2024
  • Battery dead in parking lot - 09/07/2024

I wonder why can't companies work faster, and not waste customers' time.

You can read the date of manufacturing, the battery is faulty, so why not deliver on the claimed warranty promise ASAP?

I did not even waste my time taking the bike to the service centre, after listening to what the manager said. They want to stick to their process, and their process is only meant to waste time, without any guarantee.

Some might say, you should have gone to the service centre and tried your luck.

But time is precious, and I do not intend to waste it.

My decision was I would just buy a battery from outside and get the bike ready in the next 30 minutes, rather than wasting any time with these employees from an extremely poor QC but GLOBAL brand.

I love my motorcycle.

I hate how Royal Enfield is operating.
