Isuzu D-Max awarded 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating

The D-Max scored maximum points in the side pole impact test.

The 2020 Isuzu D-Max has been awarded a 5-star safety rating by Euro NCAP. The test vehicle was a left-hand drive Crew Cab 1.9L diesel variant.

The D-Max scored 32.2 points or 84% for adult occupant safety and 42.2 points or 86% for child occupant safety. The passenger compartment remained stable in the offset frontal test. It scored maximum points in the side pole impact test.

The Euro-spec D-Max comes equipped with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system that can detect vulnerable road users. It was awarded 37.6 points or 69% for pedestrian and cyclist protection.

The D-Max scored 13.4 points or 83% for safety assists. Besides AEB, which is standard fitment, the pick-up also comes with a driver monitoring system which uses steering and camera inputs to identify whether the driver is alert and warns the driver if impaired driving is detected. The lane support system corrects the steering of the car if it is drifting out of the lane, while a camera based traffic sign recognition system identifies the local speed limit.
