Hyundai ix25 interiors unveiled in China

Interiors of Hyundai ix25, the compact SUV from the Korean automaker, have been unveiled in China prior to its launch. This Hyundai's contender will take on the Ford EcoSport and the Renault Duster; and is ready to grab a fair share of the rapidly growing compact SUV market in India.

The ix25 carries on Hyundai's Fluidic Sculpture design language. The face bears some resemblance to its elder sibling - Santa Fe, and features swept back projector headlamps with DRLs and a hexagonal grill with chrome slats. The car comes with 17 inch wheels, flared wheels arches and a sloping roof. The rear design is clean, with swept forward tail lamps and a roof spoiler.

Like all Hyundai's, we expect the ix25 to be loaded to the gills with gizmos and features to satisfy the Indian car buyers. The interior pictures from the Chinese website reveal an all black theme in the ix25 with an octagonal centre console housing the vertical air vents and a large infotainment screen. Several parts on the dashboard seem to be shared with the Elite i20, like the climate control knobs, start stop button, dual 12v chargers beside the Aux and USB slots and also the meter console with the MID. The ix25 like the Elite i20 will also have adjustable brightness control for instrument cluster lighting. The steering wheel resembles the unit on the 2012 i20. The front seats seem to be electrically adjustable too, which would be a segment first feature, if they bring it in the Indian version. The rear seat seems adequately spacious with air-con vents for the rear passengers.

In China, this car is expected to be powered by a 1.6L and a 2.0L petrol with an option of 2 wheel drive and all wheel drive. We do expect Hyundai to introduce a diesel variant as that would be the preferred choice among car buyers in India. The car is expected to launch in India in 2015 and would be positioned between the Xcent and the Verna.
