Honda India recalls Accord, CR-V to replace faulty airbags

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has recalled 1,085 units of the Accord sedan and 252 units of the CR-V manufactured in the year 2003 and 1 unit of the CR-V manufactured in 2002 to carry out replacement of their passenger side airbag inflators.

The company claims that in case of certain vehicles, due to a problem during the propellant forming process, the casing of the inflator may get damaged when the airbag deploys in the event of an accident or other situation potentially causing injury to vehicle occupants.

The company will contact the owners of the affected cars individually and the replacement will be carried out free of cost at HCIL dealerships across the country in a phased manner.

Additionally, Accord and CR-V owners can log on to HCIL's website and ascertain if their vehicles are in the list of recalled vehicles. Owners need to enter their car's 17-character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the special microsite that has been created.

The replacement is being carried out as a part of a global exercise by Honda. No incidents related to this part have been reported in India.
