Delhi: Diesel to EV conversion allowed for 10-year-old cars

The government hasn't made any announcement regarding petrol to EV conversions yet.

The Transport Minister of Delhi Kailash Gahlot has confirmed that diesel vehicles over the age of 10 years will be allowed to ply in the National Capital Region (NCR) as long as they are converted to EVs.

Gahlot stated that Delhi was now open to ICE to electric retrofitting. Diesel vehicles that are fit for the conversion can get an EV kit retrofitted from government-approved manufacturers. EV kit makers will be required to get EV kits of each model certified individually.

Earlier, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had put a ban on diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years from plying on the streets of Delhi. The government hasn't made any announcement regarding petrol to EV conversions yet.
