Audi to launch RS7 Sportback on January 6, 2014

Audi India has hinted through its official facebook page that it will introduce the RS7 Sportback on January 6, 2014.

A high-performance variant of the A7, the RS7 will rival the Mercedes E63 AMG and the BMW M5. It will be powered by a 4.0-litre, TFSI twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which pumps out a mammoth 552 bhp and 700 Nm of torque. The car uses an 8-speed, Tiptronic automatic gearbox and a Quattro all-wheel drive system. Audi claims that the RS7 can touch 100 kph from a standstill in 3.9 seconds and run on to an electronically limited top speed of 250 kph.

The RS7’s engine is equipped with a cylinder management system that deactivates four out of the eight cylinders when they are not required. This helps the car achieve better fuel economy.

There are many design cues that distinguish the RS7 from the A7. Apart from the RS badges, the car gets a single-frame honeycomb grille, larger air-intakes, matte-finished aluminium-look door mirrors and dual oval tailpipes. Audi provides 20-inch alloy wheels as standard on the RS7.

Coming to the interior, the car features a 3-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel, with aluminium-look shift paddles, RS badging and Valcona leather seats.
