Ashok Leyland to set up new Bus factory in AP

Ashok Leyland is setting up a new bus manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh. The ground breaking ceremony was recently held at the site, marking the beginning of the construction phase.

Ashok Leyland's Greenfield factory is spread over 75 acres and is situated about 40 km from Vijaywada in Model Industrial Park, Mallavalli village in the Krishna District. The facility will have an annual production capacity of 4,800 units and a potential workforce of 5,000.

The new factory will be able to produce the entire range of Ashok Leyland buses and will also include an electric vehicle development centre featuring a conveyor line, pilot assembly line and prototype development facilities. Ashok Leyland claims that the factory has been designed to be eco-friendly with a positive water balance and zero discharge. Rooftop solar panels, LED lighting and battery operated vehicles for in-plant movement will further help reduce the energy consumption.
