1,479 BHP, 1,600 Nm, 420 kph - Bugatti Chiron revealed!

Following a long wait after the Veyron was laid to rest, a preview with the Vision Gran Turismo concept, plenty of spy shots and videos and a teaser campaign, Bugatti has finally revealed the Chiron hypercar.

Given that this car is all about the stats, let's dive straight into it. The Chiron is propelled by a heavily reworked version of the Veyron's engine. Mounted behind the occupants and sending the grunt to all-four wheels is a 7,993cc, quad-turbo, W16 engine mated to a 7-speed double clutch gearbox. The powertrain needs 10 radiators to keep it cool given the output figures it generates.

The Chiron produces a Satan-summoning power output of 1,479 BHP @ around 6,700 rpm and a peak torque of 1,600 Nm @ 2,000 - 6,000 rpm. The net result is a claimed top speed of around 420 kph (261 mph). 0-100 kph comes up in less than 2.5 seconds, while 0-200 kph and 0-300 kph come up in under 6.5 seconds and under 13.6 seconds respectively.

Only 500 units of the Chiron will be made, with the car priced at an exorbitant (but unsurprising) $2.61 million.
