Top 10 exported cars from India

India has been exporting vehicles for a while now. Global players such as Suzuki, Nissan, Hyundai, Ford, Honda and Volkswagen have been shipping out cars made in the country to various markets across the world.

In the case of some of these manufacturers, the number of cars exported is greater than the number of cars sold in the domestic market. Exports have grown at a rate of 3.9% in the first six months of the current fiscal.

Among the most exported cars in FY 2015 are the Nissan Micra, Hyundai Grand i10, Volkswagen Vento, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Sunny.

In the first half of FY2016 the Nissan Micra's exports stood at 38,351 units. During the same period last year, Nissan exported 33,491 units of the hatchback. The Ford EcoSport is another strong player with 25,768 units exported in the six months ending September 30 - a growth of 58.7% over the previous year. Maruti Suzuki has exported 33,627 units of the Alto - a jump of 219% from the 10,536 units shipped out during the same period last year.

Exports of the Volkswagen Vento sedan and Hyundai Grand i10 have fallen by 2.1% and 27% in the first half of the year. Exports of the Ford Figo fell from 11,707 units in H1 of FY 2015 to 9,918 unit in H1 of FY 2016.

The Hyundai Accent is no longer sold in India. However, it is still being exported. The company has shipped out 10,905 units of the car in the six months ending September 30.
