Tata's passenger car production crosses 4 million mark

Passenger car production had crossed the 1 million mark in 2005-06.

Tata Motors has announced that it has achieved a new production milestone. Since its inception, the carmaker has produced 4 million passenger vehicles in India.

Tata had achieved the 1 million production mark for passenger vehicles in 2005-06. Production crossed the 3 million mark in 2015.

Tata Motors which was predominantly a manufacturer of commercial vehicles (CV), began producing passenger cars in the 1990s. It built models like the Indica, Sierra, Sumo, Safari and the Nano. Today, the brand offers a range of products in multiple segments. This includes the Tiago, Tigor, Altroz, Nexon and Harrier.

The Tata Nexon became the first Indian made car to score a 5-star Global NCAP making Tata Motors the first Indian manufacturer to achieve this feat. The company also claims to be India's largest EV manufacturer with a market share of 67%.
