Kia India achieves 1 million sales in record time

The Kia Seltos makes up the majority of sales, accounting for over 48%, followed by the Sonet and Carens at 34% and 16%, respectively.

Kia India is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a new sales milestone. The carmaker has achieved 1 million domestic sales in under 59 months, making it the fastest carmaker to reach this milestone.

Launched in 2019, the Kia Seltos makes up the majority of sales, accounting for over 48%, followed by the Sonet and Carens at 34% and 16%, respectively.

According to the company, top trims make up 42% of its sales. Currently, Kia offers 3 automatic transmissions: IVT, 6AT and 7DCT, which contribute to 32% of its total sales. The iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) introduced on the Sonet in 2020, contributes 15% to its domestic sales. The company's Petrol to Diesel ratio remains at 59%:41% currently.

In its first year of operation, Kia sold 45,226 units in India, which grew to 1,40,505 units in 2020. In 2021, Kia sold 1,81,583 units and 2,54,556 units a year later. Last year, the carmaker sold 2,55,000 units and has sold 1.5 lakh units in the first 7 months of 2024.

Kia also exports vehicles manufactured in India to over 100 markets. The carmaker has dispatched over 2.6 lakh units to countries around the world to date.
