Tata Motors launches driver safety initiative in Singrauli

Tata Motors has formally inaugurated its Commercial Vehicle Driving Centre in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh.

The new centre is equipped with classrooms and a testing track. 2 modules will be conducted, one for light commercial vehicles (LCV) and the other for heavy commercial vehicles (HCV). Each module can accommodate 25 students.

Also on offer are sessions on basic vehicle maintenance, first-aid, financial literacy, health, soft skills and yoga. 8 such training centres have been opened in the last 18 months.

With India ranking the highest in the world in terms of road fatalities, improving driver skills is a much needed effort. The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has estimated a demand for more than 50 lakh drivers, over a period of 12 years (beginning in 2010). Under this new initiative, Tata Motors is looking to train more than 2 Lakh youth by 2021.
