Suzuki Vitara caught testing in India

A test mule of the Suzuki Vitara has been spotted testing in Gurgaon. Unlike the sub-4 meter Vitara Brezza, the Suzuki Vitara is longer but has a similar wheelbase (2,500 mm).

The test mule can be seen sporting a Haryana license plate and is registered in the name of Maruti Suzuki India Limited. The test car is completely undisguised except for the Suzuki logo, which has been covered with tape. Also, the vehicle has been de-badged and there is no indication of the variant or engine. However, as per the registration details this particular vehicle is powered by a diesel engine and was registered nine months ago.

This Vitara is finished in a Turquoise metallic shade and has 5-spoke alloy wheels. It has a blacked-out B-pillar and rear privacy glass. The rear windshield also has a dark sun film. Besides, it has a rear wiper and a small roof spoiler with a high-mounted stop lamp. The overall look of the rear fascia is similar to the Brezza.

In the global market, the Vitara is offered with a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine with 118 BHP / 156 Nm, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 138 BHP / 220 Nm and a 1.6-litre diesel unit which produces 118 BHP / 320 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed or a 6-speed manual gearbox, while a 6-speed automatic is also offered with all the engine options. The Vitara also comes with an optional all-wheel drive system called as 'All-grip'.

While, there is no word about the larger Vitara making its way into the Indian market, if launched, it is expected to rival the Hyundai Creta.
