Spied: Skoda Rapid special edition

Czech carmaker, Skoda could be gearing up to introduce a special edition of the Skoda Rapid sedan in the coming months.

A photograph put up by Autocar India, shows the Skoda Rapid testing with cosmetic tweaks like black headlamp clusters with projectors units, black surrounds for the grille and black wing mirrors. The car also gets 'Comet' 16-inch black alloy wheels and black housings for the fog lamps.

The report claims that this variant of the Rapid is likely to be christened the Black Edition and could also feature interiors with black inserts at various places and a touchscreen infotainment system.

The Rapid Black Edition could get the new 1.5-litre, 104 bhp diesel engine that Skoda's parent company, Volkswagen has developed. The car could also get a DSG transmission with paddle shifters.

Autocar believes that the Black edition will hit the showrooms in six months' time. It could be the last special edition of the current Rapid before the facelifted model arrives.
