My Code 6 Stage 1 tuned Skoda Rapid 1.5 TDI: Driving experience

The car has genuinely become a rocket from 2000 RPM to 4500 RPM.

BHPian Tuisha110HP recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Alright,

First thing first, apologies for the lack of updates, as I was busy moving across India as part of my professional journey and the car held my tantrums too well.

Quick update: The car did hit 52000 KMs and like all status updates, it is running as smoothly as day 1. I got the 60000 service from Bangalore and it was a normal service, nothing major to mention. The running did go down last year and I have finished all the 4 services that I was entitled to with the SMP service pack.

Saving the interesting part for the last :

The car is now Code 6 stage 1 tuned. I did put a BMC air filter on top of this. The tuning was done at Code 6 Hyderabad. Did I mention, that I moved from Delhi to Bangalore and then to Hyderabad in the last year: driving across India, boot full of luggage and the car has never let me down and has been an absolute beast. I enjoyed every km I was behind the wheel.

Sorry to digress from the remap update. How does it feel:

Pros:

  • The car has genuinely become a rocket from 2000 RPM to 4500 RPM.
  • The revs climb much faster now from say 1000 RMP. The lag (ever so slightly it was) is now gone.
  • City drive has become smoother. You just have to feather the throttle
  • Feels like the input of the throttle has improved with the BMC air filter.
  • Saving the best for the last. The big meat of torque comes in after 2000 RPM and stays there. So from like 80 KMPH to double it, it pulls and pulls. Overtakes: a piece of cake now.

Cons:

  • Cant think of anything, other than how to kill my urge to push the throttle to the metal to enjoy the diesel pull
