Spain: Husqvarna Vitpilen spied on test

Earlier this year, Stefan Pierer, President and CEO of KTM, had revealed that two Husqvarna motorcycles would be partly built in India. Unveiled at EICMA 2014, the Husqvarna 401 Vitpilen and 401 Svartpilen are slated to enter production in 2016 and go on sale in 2017. It now looks like the 401 Vitpilen has been caught on test in Spain.

The test mule in question looks like a KTM and the production version is expected to share similarities with the Duke in the engine and chassis department. The motorcycle has a more aggressive riding position than the Duke 390, and output figures could be higher than the Duke as well.

The rolling chassis for the 401 Vitpilen and 401 Svartpilen will be built at the KTM-Bajaj factory in Chakan, near Pune and shipped to Austria with the engine installed. The final assembly of the bikes will take place in Matighoffen (Austria). It is being speculated that KTM could launch the bikes in India as well, but there hasn’t been any official confirmation from KTM, Husqvarna or Bajaj.
