Scoop: Maruti Alto K10 facelift snapped

Maruti Suzuki is in the process of giving the Alto K10 hatchback a facelift. Motoring website Motorbash has published pictures of the car which were taken while it was being tested.

While they do not reveal much, the pictures suggest that the facelifted Alto K10 will borrow design cues from the larger Celerio as well as the Alto 800. The car gets larger, swept-back headlamps, new grille with a chrome strip at the top, new front bumper with air dam and fog lamp housings and a rounded bonnet. The facelifted K10 also appears to be taller than the current model.

Maruti is expected to use the same 998 cc, 3-cylinder engine as the current model to power the facelifted Alto K10. Tuned to produce 68 PS and 90 Nm of torque, this engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. A variant with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) is likely to be launched as well.

This is the first major change that the Alto K10 will be receiving since its launch in 2010. Details regarding the launch of the car are awaited.
