Scale model reveals Volvo S90's design?

Spy photographers catch pre-launch vehicles on test in real world conditions, at a track or even parked in a stockyard. The Volvo S90 has been spied on several occasions during road tests, but every image so far has seen the car wearing a heavy camouflage. In an unusual occurrence (but not one that's unheard of), a scale model of the luxury sedan has been pictured, possibly revealing the car's exterior design.

The images surfaced on Chinese scale model retailing website mogomodel. The car's front bears a strong resemblance to the Volvo XC90, with the front grille and Thor's hammer LED's being particularly similar. What's new is the tail light cluster which runs along the boot, where the Volvo logo has been placed in bold letters. The rear profile is similar to that of the Jaguar XJ and the sedan has a sportback like design. Like the XJ, the number plate sits in the rear bumper. The car also gets chrome along the window lining, exhaust tips, door handles and side skirting.

Engine options will include a range of four cylinder petrol and diesel mills, along with a plug-in hybrid variant. The S80 replacing car will rival the Jaguar XF, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5-Series and Audi A6. The S90 could make its public debut at the Detroit motor show next year.
