Rumour: Yamaha to launch the MT-03 in India

After the Yamaha MT-03 was showcased at EICMA this year, a lot of Indian motorcyclists found themselves wondering if the bike would make its way here. According to a report by ET Auto, it looks like the R3's naked cousin will be launched here, with the report stating that the confirmation has come from Yamaha itself.

The entry level performance naked is powered by a 321cc, in-line twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine that makes 41.4 BHP @ 10,750 rpm and 29.6 Nm of torque @ 9,000 rpm. The engine comes paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Given that it is a twin-cylinder model, the MT-03 will not have a market as wide as the KTM Duke 390, but will rival the likes of the Kawasaki Z250, Benelli TNT 300 and the yet to be launched TVS-BMW G 310 R.

The motorcycle will be a locally assembled offering and prices are likely to start north of Rs. 3 lakh.
